This has been approved by the Senate and is pending a decision by the Executive Board at this point.
WHEREAS Fresh Dance is a Main Stage production that celebrated its 10th anniversary this semester; and
WHEREAS Fresh Dance is a production that allows for an all student run show including both technical and performance aspects- Students work in collaboration with one another to choreograph, learn and perform dances, as well as create relevant costumes, lighting and stage designs; and
WHEREAS this production is unique in its incorporation of both theatre and non-theatre majors; it is the only performance show of its kind that is open to all students of the SUNY New Paltz Campus; and
WHEREAS there is no longer a dance minor available to students in their years of study, Fresh Dance for some is the only opportunity to be involved in dance on campus; and
WHEREAS Fresh Dance in its history has also incorporated performances by local, community; and
WHEREAS Fresh dance has served as a unique space for different communities of the New Paltz Campus to work collectively towards a similar goal; therefore the 49th Student Senate proposes

Be it DECLARED: The Student Association, hereby suggests that Fresh Dance is an integral part of the student experience at SUNY New Paltz and should be valued as such by those involved in its production.
